Amanda Damarin

Assistant Professor

(PhD, Columbia University, 2004) Amanda K. Damarin is a sociologist with interests in economic and technological change, work, inequality, culture, and social theory. Her current research centers on work and employment arrangements in New York City’s new media industry from its emergence through its late-1990s boom and subsequent decline. She has a recent article on the structure of web occupations in the journal Work and Occupations, and is developing further papers on the paradoxes of labor autonomy in innovative industries and on the use of personal ties to navigate rapidly changing labor markets.
