Bill Winders

Assistant Professor

(PhD, Emory University, 2001) is a sociologist who specializes in the areas of social inequality (class, race, and gender), social movements, political sociology, and the world economy. His current research examines how political coalitions and the southern political-economy shaped twentieth century U.S. agricultural policy. He has published in journals such as Social Forces, Politics & Society, Social Problems, and Rural Sociology on topics including the politics of national policies, voter turnout, and social movement dynamics. Dr. Winders’ book, Cultivating Conflict and Change: Agricultural Divisions, the World Economy, and the Rise and Fall of Supply Management Policy, is forthcoming with Yale University Press in the spring of 2009.
