The School of History, Technology, and Society (HTS) awards certificates in recognition of concentrated knowledge in a given area.
Students can focus their social science courses and acquire advanced knowledge in five areas: History, Sociology, African-American Studies, Asian Affairs, or European Affairs.
The certificate demonstrates your achievement in areas beyond your major to employers and graduate institutions, and is helpful to students going on to graduate study in law, medicine, or business. It adds breadth both to your education and to your resume. By scheduling your courses carefully, you can earn a certificate by taking only one additional course beyond the standard social science requirements met by all Tech students. Beyond the introductory level courses, all history and sociology classes are listed as HTS courses. The course title usually indicates whether the class is history or sociology.
If you would like more information, or are interested in a certificate, please consult with the Associate Director of Undergraduate Studies, Amy D'Unger (124 Old Civil Engineering Building). To make an appointment with Dr. D'Unger, go to the Georgia Tech online advising appointment scheduler. To participate in the program, you need only fill out a very simple form with the help of the Associate Director of Undergraduate Studies.
